When somebody mentions armour clothes, the first thing that comes to mind is the battles during the medieval times, when knights fought for their kings and queens. Certainly, even to this day, people are mesmerized by the bravery that these knights showed, as well as their interesting armour clothes. As time went by, armour clothes were improved and eventually became lighter and more protective; they could be worn in conjunction with all the different tools and weapons that knights used during that time. The chest area was the most critical section because a strong blow could kill the knight instantly; therefore, the body armour was hardened to resist the strongest blow.

Nowadays, soldiers in battles no longer wear medieval armour clothes; instead they wear uniforms with extra security such as bulletproof vests and helmets. The main difference today relies in the type of weapons that are used; medieval soldiers needed to protect themselves from swords and knives and not from firearms and guns, like soldiers do today. Consequently, medieval armour clothes had to cover almost every single part of the knight’s body, including the arms and legs. Some of the parts of a knight’s armour suit were:
- Sabatons – made of iron plates, covered the feet
- Poleyns–constructed to guard the knee caps
- Spurs–connected to the heel with straps
- Greaves–used to guard the calves and ankles and generally made of a steel plate
- Cuisses–used to guard the thighs
